[The ebola epidemic in West Africa and social determinants].

Sr. Editor. La epidemia de enfermedad por virus del Ébola que comenzó en diciembre de 2013, en la región occidental del África, es la número 25 que ha sufrido ese continente, y aunque muchas le han precedido, ninguna se le compara en magnitud y extensión: si comparamos los más de 26 000 casos de ébola ocurridos en estos 11 meses con los 425 casos registrados en el 2000 –cuando ocurrió la que era considerada la epidemia más grande– tenemos que la actual epidemia es, hasta este momento, 57 veces mayor que cualquier otra jamás vista.
